 AEMV

TheAEMV association was founded in Geneva in 1979 by Prof Denys Montandon and Ferdinand Pittet, social-worker in Switzerland and one of his patients. The association is dedicated to helping children and adults who are facially mutilated due to various diseases or accidents. At the beginning patients came from Switzerland and from other European countries, but in the recent years the majority of patients are children victims of face cancer, severe burns or accidents, coming from third world countries where adequate treatment is not possible for technical or financial reasons.

Thanks to AEMV and "Sentinelles", surgical missions are conducted in Africa or Asia, by the Plastic and Reconstructive Unit of the University of Geneva Hospitals, under the direction of Professor Denys Montandon and Professor Brigitte Pittet. The patients requiring complex surgical techniques are therefore transferred to Switzerland for the duration of treatment.S
